Updates

Congratulations to Peugeot on their win this year at Le Mans. Big congrats also goes to the Corvette GT1 team - well done, boys.

The Latest - The Blue Bird Project

This is a privately commissioned painting I am presently working on. Thought you might enjoy seeing it in stages.

Stage 1 - Initial Meeting and Reference Photos

This is your initial meeting. Bring your portfolio. I also pack a FlashDrive and my cameras. Get to know your client and take too many pictures. You will want these later.

I have a reference file to work from but the more you can gather, the better (IMO). I have my digital camera with me and we ended printing out about 20 shots. The client and I were able to pick and choose as we printed out the pics at a local drugstore.

Important Note:

Listen to your client!!!! They are paying you! It doesn't matter is you have a great idea. If they aren't receptive to it and they have something else in mind, do it the way they asked. You want to make sure they are happy so they amy recommend you to others. More business, more money.

Stage 2- Pencil Sketch

This gives you an opportunity to adjust everything so the layout is pleasing to the eye. I brought this to my client so he could get a feeling for what I had. He brought his wife along and they were both giggly-happy.

Stage 3 - The Painting

I transfer the pencil drawing to illustration board. Crescent is my personal favorite - very smooth and holds up to water media. Colors stay bright also.

I will post the latest pics at the top.
