Raffle tickets are now available through the Florida Region SCCA for $10 each or 10 tickets fro $90. The auction benefits Quantum House in West Palm Beach. Quantum House provides a "caring place to call home" for families while their children are being treated for a critical illness or injury in Palm Beach County. 

My thanks to the Florida Region SCCA for this opportunity. I hope the painting generates a lot of donations for this fine organization.

"Spectra Flames"

It's the Cannonball Datsun 510 in a drag grudge match with 'Wild Bill' Maverick's "Little Red Wagon.

The 510 is the real deal - Barry Brown from Riter Vintage Auto Specialists in East Rochester New York built this. It has the 340 V-8 previously in Brock Yates' Cannonball Challenger which was completely restored by Riter. You may remember Brock from his previous writing days at Car and Driver magazine and the driving force behind The Cannonball Run and the Cannonball One Lap of America. Mr Yates also is the owner of the Eliminator Thisepa Mark 2, the car raced by Duffy Livingstone back in the 1950s.

A fun kind of fantasy piece and one of my drag racing memories as a kid.
